When man rejected and disobeyed God in the garden of eden, the perfect love and relationship that we had with God was destroyed. From the moment that Adam and Eve ate of the fruit from the forbidden tree sin came into our world and into our souls. God afforded his people opportunities to seek forgiveness for their sins by offering sacrifices.
Through the ages, man would honor this by putting forth their best in seeking God’s forgiveness. But there had to be sacrifice that would make an atonement for our sins. There had to be a propitiation for all of man’s sins.
The word propitiation is an action meant to to regain someone’s favor or makeup for something you did wrong (Vocabulary). Websters states that it is to regain the favor of goodwill of, or to appease. An example would be made in an offering to God.
Romans 3:23- 25,
For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness because in his divine forbearance he has passed over former sins.
The Bible tells us that we have all sinned and thus have been separated from the love of God. And there had to be an atonement for that sin. A final payment must be offered.
Jesus was that payment. And when he said it was finished on the cross and gave up his spirit, the power of sin was forever broken and man once again could be made righteous and Holy in the eyes of God. Because of Christ we have been reconciled to God. And there is nothing that can separate us from his love.
Sometimes, we want to try and pay that debt to God. But it has been mark paid. So, today, I want each of us to look to heaven and say thank you Jesus for making that sacrifice for me. For without it we would all be eternally lost.
So let us begin living like we have been forgiven and go out into this lost dark world and let others see the light in us. Let’s share how others can have their bill marked paid.
God bless you, Brenda and I love you, and remember that God does too.
