Faith In Action

Good morning friends,
Today’s devotion is about how believers are called to do something. The book of James tells us not to be hearers only, but to be doers of the word.Faith is an ACTION word. We are called to “walk out” our faith (James 1:22).

Matthew West wrote a song called “Do Something.” In how song he speaks about a troubled and dark world. The song states that he “turned his eyes to heaven.” He says God why don’t you do something. He says, I did, I created you.

God created each of us to “do something”. Christ gave his disciples the great commission and commanded them to go out into ALL the nations and to spread his message of salvation.

Each of us at times have seen the worst in humanity and the world, and have asked God why are you letting this happen. So many times if we had gone into the world and spoke life then maybe just maybe things would be different.

Faith doesn’t require us to see the results nor how we might get to get to where we are going. It is complete faith the in the Lord and in his word. The apostle Paul tells us this in 2nd Corinthians 5:7,

We walk by faith, not by sight

I had a great friend and man of God recount a story when he decided to do something. He had been praying for God to give him opportunities to share the gospel at his job. He said that a man sat in his office and God opened the door. His mighty man of God did not take that opportunity. The man leaves and my friend was so convicted that he literally ran out of his office to find the gentleman. But he was gone.

After this my friend, began to pray for boldness when the opportunity came. Today, my friend is one of my pastors. And in his life he continues to do something each and every day. He answers the call of God sacrificing his time, and at times his own physical health to ensure that he is always there to minister to those God places before him.

So today, I want encourage each of you to do something. We are responsible to share the same message of love, grace, and mercy that we receive each and every day. The question is will you like my friend answer the call. If you choose to you will be blessed and a blessing in the kingdom of God.

Remember that Brenda and I love you, and God does too.
